    mgfest the meeting of friends

    door goldenwheels » ma aug 06, 2007 10:47 pm

I am sorry I have had to use english for this post but I am not as smart as you are . Thank you for you company at the mgfest. iI enjoyed it so much it was like an old man telling tales of his world to the NEW generations of modifiers :P
It was good to meet our new European sales manager (bruno the pathfinder as he is now known) again. pity our drive was so short  maybe longer the next time.
david clelland an myself will be travelling thro to the 'RING in September 5 and staying at Brugges overnight on the way back. So if you see us gives a wave.
I hope this post works as i have used my small brain to try to traanslate the boards instructions.
If it dose not work, pity the foolish old man who could only give life to goldenwheels

sorry about the size of the avitar,,,can somebody help me resize,,,,
I managed to translate 'wijzig' by typing into google and looking at the results. even old men can learn:D

    my regards....gerry

Hi Gerry and welcome to mgf.be. Nice to see the owner of one of the most famous F's here. I think I've seen you back in 2005 on the Kempenrit event, even if we didn't talk I (?) I had a good view into your engine compartment :applaus: :D
Shame I couldn't make it to this huge event but I've seen many pictures so far and pleased that a good time was had by all.

Re your avatar: I've sent you a pm !

You can easily switch the forum interface to English: Just goto 'Profiel' and then scroll down to 'Forum taal'. Here you can change into English :)

    hi herbie.
the kempenrit in 2005 was for me a highlight in 'goldenwheels' life. we were made so welcome. Getting older you start to forget things, sometimes people, sometimes places , but never kindness and the dream of modifing.
I believe its the last part of the body to die....the dreaming side of the brain :D
thanks for the 'english' tip on the profile i did not see a 'SCOTTISH ' translation so english will do,,,HA,,,HA,,,HA

    hi Remieme

thanks for the welcome maybee we can see you as we pass thro going back to the ferry :?:

    Hi Gerry,

I'm happy that you found your way to the MGF.BE-forum.
We've indead have had a good chat, and we've (mgf.be members) learned a lot about another point of view regarding MGF/TF-tuning.
I was the lucky guy to feel the performance of the V-tec engine in an MGF, and there is only one word for that performance (and also handling of your car) : Amazing ! The feeling is very simular to the Lotus Exige I have driven for several months, but this car can be driven daily, a lotus can't, regarding to comfort.
Feel free to post here in English, I'm sure everyone here is very interested in your very special car. !!

thankyou this is the mk4 body....no 3 in 2005 was influenged by my son and i wanted to do something with gold flake in the laquer. it was very expensive to repaint damaged panels (60000 miles in 2.5 years leaves a lot of stone chips) so we went for this more 'calm' look and i must say i like it better. i also wanted the new 'MGH' badge to show better on the front.

    hi bruno.
it was great to see you again. i just cant forget your smile when we went out for a run, the sign of a true beleiver.
i spoke to someone at mgfest about making up my modified suspension kits so maybe there will be more goldenwheels replicas.
as far as driving daily , david and i drove over 4hours non stop on the way down thro all kinds of roads and two old men were able to get out with any damage. last weekend we went 900 miles in 4 days around the top of scotland, using many single track roads without any comfort problems.
as i said a the meet, bruno, nothing on the car is rocket sience, you only have to ....
    think the opposite
    try the opposite
    if it does not work,

    try again.

i have always found that as most things have been done somewhere before and you just have to use simple logic and research.
take the engine hot air fan....simple thought , hot air rises...lets help it out. look for a good fan that fits the space, take away the lower old poor fan and go ahead. now 500cm per min gets pulled out of the top vent and 500cm/min floods in from the base and out the top vent, ....simple. forget what the critics say...its your car and your life.....maybee my attitude is why the big boys dont play with me now.
i spoke to a nice guy at the show who was trying to fit a turbo and was looking at where to fit heat shields. my thought, and it works for me, is forget shielding the manifold...shield the fragile components and lets air circulation ( coupled with a good fan as above)take out the hot external manifold air without being slowed down by plates that it has to find its way around to get out ....old mans simple logic.
if you take away light you are left with dark (you canno make dark) so take away heat and you are left with 'cold' or cooller.

must go have to work sorry about going on

    gerry

ps bruno its an Ivtec the honda people wolud be very unhappy with vtec
i have put a link to an info site http://asia.vtec.net/article/k20a/ so people can under stand how 40miles per gallon and 155+ is possible out of this car.
i dont understand it , i just love it....just like my wife ...only more!!!!!

    thanks bruce.

sorry to bore you with my talk but if some one stops me to talk about the car, i just cant help myself.
the details you talk about are to me just natural.
the whole object was to end up with a car that i could jump into and drive safely, comfortably, quickly of into the sunset...like thema and louise...but without louise.
god i am so lucky that i have done it.
there was always a cut off point 1. running out of money (never ideas) or 2 my 60th birthday ...well i am poor and 60, BUT the mind lives on.....who knows.

Time for my small contribution to this thread. I am glad we had some time together in the shade and next to MGH. It made a major part of my MGFest experience.

That would be me then Gerry! I enjoyed the conversation! I picked up on our conversation on that cooling topic on an engine conversion thread over at the MGbbs. As it seems the way forward to me. I´ve seen the light now

I know there´s also an e-VTEC engine, which consumes even less. One of my collegues has it in his 8yr old civic with 120Kmiles on the clock and still going strong. Although he´s not anywhere near of a high rmp driver.

    kind regards,
    david

hi David. i am sorry i only realized today that i was you i was talking to at mgfest. remember to look outside for the answers, just as you are doing now.
its funny i was not going to take the car to any more shows but was persuaded one more time and 'wow' i met all the great people from Belgium and Holland. i also made a good contact and we may be doing kits for the suspension .
now when i think of it your engine weight problem may be helped with the kit as is my extra ivtec engine weight.
because it is separated from the front you may have a lot more stability at the rear, which will also have the advantage of stopping opposite wheel lft of ??? do know but being adjustable it does not matter what weight the engine is! just a thought.
your idea of a english speaking forum section would be great but as a lazy old Scotsman i have enjoyed trying to pick through your 'language barrier'.
i should say that my uncle married a Belgian girl and the lived on Leopold avenue in Brussels. i often went to visit them and her old mother and i could talk some as a lot of Flemish sounding words were similar to old broads Scots.

we have a saying in the part of Scotland where i live and it is....WE ARE ALL JOCK TAMSEN'S BAIRNS ....translated..we are all Jock Tamsen's ( a well known man who loved and protected children) bairns ( children)

i think it means we are all brothers and sisters together , we are just a 'wee' bit special because we love our cars.

hope to see you all soon.
