Hi Nils,
I will try to explain what the engine codes mean.
As you already know, the first letters are the type and size.
E.G. 18K4F = 1800cc - K series - valves/cylinder - with cat converter.
The bit most people have trouble with is the next 3 digits.
I.E. N15 etc, etc.
this means the "Dressing Configuration" for the unit.
I will try to explain.
The actual engine underneath may be the same BUT when Powertrain assembled engines they used to send them up to the CAB buildings "Fully Dressed". This means they had the gearbox fitted and were all wired up and had all the fuel lines fitted and everything else ready to drop in the appropriate vehicle. All they had to do on final engine fit assembly was bolt it in and connect it up.
So the N31 or M15 etc codes in an engine number mean absolutley nothing to any one except Powertrain and final build.
The same engine underneath will have different build codes for different applications. IE different ratio gearbox fitted etc.
Most people refer to engine part numbers as starting with LBB.
When an engine is "dressed" ( which is where our code comes in ) then it is not refered to as an engine but a Power Unit and has a part number starting LAB.
So basically, after all this waffle, those codes are for factory use only.
Dus het lijkt er op dat er geen relatie is tussen de genoemde codes en het aanwezig zijn van een airco
