    ENTHUSIAST GOES TO GREAT LENGTHS
TO BE AT KEY MG ANNIVERSARY EVENT

Roger Pearce, an un-qualified MG enthusiast, has travelled from his ‘Emgee
Workshop’ in Randburg, South Africa to be at the Silverstone International
event held by the MG Car Club in the 80th anniversary year of MG.

Driving a 1973 MGB GT, Roger has single-handedly covered over 7,500 miles
(12,000 km) from South Africa, through Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia,
Sudan, Egypt, and Italy and onto Silverstone, England in 39 days.

Roger runs Emgee Workshop in Randburg SA, the name is the telegraph
address for the old Abingdon factory, where he attends to MGs and other
classic cars. He is also a holder of the South African Endurance Record
for 24, 48 and 72 Hours, as well as 5,000 and 10,000km races, and has been
chairman of the Historic Racing Register of South Africa and won the 1991
South African race car Championship in a 1967 MGB GT.

Commenting on his endurance drive, Roger said: “I’m impressed that we’ve
both made it. Driving so far, on very demanding road surfaces, on my own,
in a classic MG has to be a real long-distance achievement – and I’m so
glad to be here at Silverstone. It just goes to prove … you can do it in
    an MG!â€Â
