Ik ben er ook nog niet uit maar heb een website www.jebentalsnelduurzaamopweg.nl gevonden waar je kunt checken of een auto er geschikt voor is. Helaas wordt in dit lijstje de MG(F) niet vermeld hoewel negen van de tien moderne auto’s er wél probleemloos op kunnen rijden. Het wordt dus E98 tanken zolang je geen risico wilt nemen. Het risico bestaat dat de ethanol uit E10 bepaalde rubberen kunststofafdichtingen, keerringen en pakkingen kan aantasten

ik zal wel rustig E10 gaan tanken bij Total, die geven gratis pechverhelping als er na je tankbeurt iets gebeurt. Als't niet ok is heb ik tenminste een sterk verhaal.

Must write in English but no E10 for me as long as possible !

Why ?
- I will by no means fill my car up with "food" (controversial I know )
- E10 has nothing to do with environment protection
- It is a bit cheaper but at the end of the day we all have to pay the price when the usual petrol will disappear. Bloody EU with their hidden price politics (subsidies).
- Even if it is ok for a 96 Freelander (K-Series) it does not mean that it would be okay for our tanks, fuelpipes and injection nozzles
- With this stuff your F will take more petrol which doesn't compensate the lower price (a recent test by a car magazine has proved that !). It is fact that ethanol has a lower efficiency than petrol.

... and don't get the idea to add some 2-stroke engine oil (found some rumours on the web). This won't help as petrol is a degreaser, the 2 oil would disappear very quickly, also the moving parts are greased through the oil channels and not through the inlet manifold / valve system.


Edit: ohhh and watch out, some petrol stations have already sold standard E5 as E10 with the higher price ... http://adactestblog.wordpress.com/2011/ ... die-zeche/

Au fond moet je dan ook niet met de auto rijden, want weet je wat er dan allemaal kan gebeuren?
tip : koop een bewaarauto en één om mee te rijden, je weet niet welk plezier je dan kan hebben.

Wat ik weet is dat Lotus al een auto geschikt heeft gemaakt voor Ethanol.

@Herby: Will reply in English. Wouldn't be to sure about ethanol having a lower efficiency. In INDY Cart they are using ethanol which resulted in same or more horsepower at lower consumption. Seems to be a neat trick if ethanol would have a lower efficiency. The fact is engines can run on ethanol but to get the best out of it you need a higher compr.rate. Higher as petrol can take. That is why bi-fuel cars run more expensive on ethanol and are less environment friendly as they could be. Properly burned ethanol burns cleaner as petrol. And let's not forget electric cars are the least environment freindly!!!! Lotus has been or is working on a dual compresion rate engine so the engine is best suited for either petrol or ethanol. For the moment IMO ethanol is the best alternative for petrol.

But Herbies idea is that there are people starving right now, so it is unethical to burn food derived products for pleasure solely. It is not a matter of ecological thoughts only.
Correct me if i'm wrong.

Transport isn't for pleasure only, it is part of our economical system.
Furthermore you'd have the same issues with Bio-diesel and Bio-hydraulic oil. And in the same line, what about sun-tanning oil and anti-aging products??
