As this event is on my wish list for such a long time, I am checking the possibilities right now. Previous events did clash with an event of one of our MGF Kempenrit 'employees'

Erik, as of yesterday, there are still eight places left. If I remember correct, Jos and Nathalie are also entered.

You know you want to do it don't you ?

Adrian, Me, Bruce, Jos, Nathalie are doing the 2day event, not the 3 day event.
I've asked Claude to book a room in hotel de la poste.

The sun is gone now....

We had a nice drive up to Luxembourg, avoiding Brussels and enjoying the bents near Verviers. Finally arrived in Luxembourg, and again ... as always... impressed by the flat, spotless winding roads.
The hotel is really good and we had a very nice meal together with Mr and Mrs Midzomertour. Just before calling it a day, we met Adrian and Dawn for a final beer/coke. It all looks and feels like a perfect holiday.
I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the same good weather as today.

Another great day at Tour de Lux.

We slept well at the hotel and the breakfast was just what we wanted. BruBru* and Jos & Nathalie arrived in time for the quick "say hello's" and the breefing by Claude on the local square. Two convoys are driving 80kms up to the National Mine museum... What can I say about the roads: they are marvelous; spotless and with really challenging bits. All went good and we all arrived at the mine. After a bit of waiting, putting a security helmet on our heads and some good laughing at each other, we all toke place in the train that brought us in the mine. It's a mine in a hill, so there's no need to descent a lot. It wasn't a cole mine, but one for gaining iron. Very interesting and all well explained and shown. Bit of a minus: time was limit and the group too large, so we needed to hurry and skipped a few displays.
After a nice lunch, we needed to take our roadbooks for the individual stage. The first situation gave some headaches, but once we were on route, time and distances flew... until the rain came out. I must admit, we are more than cautious when there's a micture of bends and wet roads in front of us. Recovering and controlling an F on the limit is one thing, but the same situation in the wet is something different. Better safe than sorry.
After some frinedly talks, cheers and meetings at the town square we went back to the hotel to prepare for dinner.
Dinner was served in the 3rd hotel of Larochette. There are only 3 hotels in this town, and MG drivers are staying in two of them. So it is a bit fair, to have dinner in the 3rd one ;)
Dinnertime gave a perfect opportunity to hand out two trophies. Colin won one for the attendee travelling the most miles/kms up to the event. And Guy one one as his car was nominated for best or prettiest car of the event. Today he showed up in an MG NB.. Don't worry pictures will follow.
At around midnight, we decided to go upstairs and get a good sleep to be prepaired for tomorrow.

Cheers,

Erik, live at TdL 2009

The Belgian division is back home now and I hope we all enjoyed a nice sleep. It's back to work now ....

After a short breefing on the town square of Larochette, we set of in two groups. Initially there was a group for those who liked to drive at a faster pace, and another group for those who liked to enjoy the scenery. Due to the rain and the wet roads, both groups will stick to limited speeds to avoid any problem with slippery roads.
It was quite funny to see all the communications going on during the coffee brake and lunch. All kind of languages, but you could just see that everyone was talking about handling, tyres loosing grip, correcting by pulling at the steering wheel, etc... How hard could it be: during lunch the sun was out and the roads were getting dry again. Until we started our engines and heavy rain started to fall down again. The roads were more than wet ...
As rain made the rocks very slippery and dangerous, the little walk at Müllertall (or Little Swiss) was cancelled and we had another drink in the neigbourhood of Berdorf. My parents and I stayed at Berdorf when I was 4 or 5 years old, so it was good to be there once again. At this point many said goodbye and drove off to home. We couldn't agree and followed Claude and Pascal for the final stint of aprox. 30 minutes to Echternach. Again a route with very nice views, great scenery and this time dry-ish roads soon getting wet from another set of showers.
At Echternach we said goodbye, thanked the organisation and drove home. It didn't take long before the rain stopped and a glorious sun shine appeared. We kept the hood up, floored the pedal and enjoyed the car once more.

I would like to thank:
- Claude and his wife for organising this event. It surely is an event you can not miss. It puts the Luxembourg region on the MG map.
- Pascal and all the others who helped us during the convoy driving
- The MG Car Club Luxembourg
- The mgf.be group... for all the laughs and lovely moments we shared.
